PDL Defeats Lehigh Valley

And just like that, FA Euro’s scoreless streak comes to a halt.

After falling to the New York Red Bulls U23 in back to back games, FA Euro welcomed new faces to Belson Stadium as they went head to head with Lehigh Valley United.

FA Euro New York entered Saturday’s game without scoring a goal in their previous 5 games. After two early missed opportunities for FA Euro, they finally found the back of the goal. In the 13’ minute, Momodou Sawaneh sent a perfect through ball over to Alexis Santa, who let it rip into the goal. In the following minute FA Euro nearly extended their lead, but Zhurabek Khusanov’s shot from the 18 went over the top of the goal.

In the 33’ minute, Lehigh Valley got their first good opportunity to score, but while going for the heading finish, defender Andrew Bishop went in hard, and knocked Euro’s Benji Issroff to the ground. The challenge led to Bishop being issued a yellow card. Euro’s Johan Mauritzon also received a yellow card on the play.

FA Euro continued to create opportunities for themselves throughout the first half nearly scoring on multiple opportunities. The game went into the half with a score of 1-0.

FA Euro’s momentous first half carried over into the second. In the 56’ Minute, a Lehigh Valley turnover led to a quick counter attack by Euro. With the goalie far out of the box, Alexis Santa found Jason Lampkin who scored Euro’s second goal of the game.

With FA Euro unable to score the put away goal, Lehigh Valley went on the counter. In the 66’ minute, forward Mark Forrest scored his team’s first goal off the rebound, after Euro’s keeper Brian McPartland couldn’t handle the first shot attempt.

Although FA Euro gave up a goal, they didn’t slow down. They responded quickly with a goal of their own. In the 74’ minute, Substitute forward Tarek Beckles got the ball off the corner and beat Lehigh Valleys keeper Cameron Keys to extend the lead back to two.

Late pressure in the 90’ minute from Lehigh Valley led to Euro’s Tarek Beckles committing a foul inside the box. The ensuing penalty shot was buried by Seji Rose, shrinking FA Euro’s lead down to one. Beckles was issued a yellow card on the play. FA Euro was able to hold onto the lead and come away with their second win on the season.

FA Euro New York looks to extend their winning streak when they welcome Jersey Express to their home field on Wednesday June 21, at 7:30 PM EDT on I-95 Sports Network. i95sportsnetwork.com
