After 13 unforgettable years with FA Euro New York, Coach Angelo Orlando will be concluding his tenure with the club and returning home to Italy to spend more time with his family.
Since joining FA Euro in 2013, Orlando has played an integral role in the club’s growth and development, helping shape generations of players while establishing himself as one of the most respected and influential figures in the organization’s history. Through his professionalism, passion for the game, and unwavering commitment to youth development, he helped build a culture that continues to define FA Euro today.
Before arriving in New York, Orlando enjoyed an accomplished professional career in Italy. A defender known for his intelligence, leadership, and work ethic, he made more than 400 professional appearances, including over 150 matches in Serie A. He represented some of Italy’s most respected clubs, most notably Inter Milan, where he made 125 appearances and was part of the squad that captured the 1993-94 UEFA Cup, one of European football’s most prestigious trophies.
Yet despite competing at the highest levels of the sport, Angelo never measured success by the trophies he won or the clubs he represented. Instead, he dedicated the next chapter of his career to helping young players pursue their own dreams.

That commitment became a defining part of FA Euro’s story.
Over the last thirteen years, Orlando coached hundreds of players across multiple age groups, guiding them through some of the most important stages of their development. His final season with the club saw him lead FA Euro’s 2009 MLS NEXT team, but his impact extends far beyond any single team or season.
Players quickly learned that Angelo expected excellence. Training sessions were demanding, standards were high, and accountability was non-negotiable. Yet behind that competitive mentality was a coach who genuinely cared about every player he worked with. Whether it was staying after training to help a player improve a specific skill, offering advice during a difficult moment, or helping a young athlete navigate challenges on and off the field, Angelo consistently invested in the people around him.
His influence cannot be measured solely through wins, league standings, or championships. It can be seen in the confidence he helped build in young players, the values he instilled in countless teams, and the trust he earned from families throughout the community.
For FA Euro President Joe Balsamo, Angelo’s departure marks the end of a chapter that extends far beyond soccer.
“When people hear Angelo’s name, they’ll naturally think about Inter Milan, the UEFA Cup, and his incredible professional career,” said Balsamo. “But for me, that’s never been what defined him. Angelo became family. Over the last thirteen years, we’ve shared countless memories, overcome challenges together, celebrated victories, and built this club side by side. He wasn’t just a coach at FA Euro. He was a mentor, a leader, and truly a brother to me. The impact he’s had on our players and families is impossible to measure. Hundreds of young athletes have benefited from his knowledge, his passion, and his ability to teach the game the right way. He helped establish standards and values that will continue to guide this club long after he’s gone. While we’re heartbroken to see him leave, we’re incredibly happy that he’ll be able to spend more time with his family in Italy. He will always have a home at FA Euro.”
Throughout his time at the club, Angelo represented everything FA Euro strives to be: passionate, humble, professional, and relentlessly committed to helping young people reach their full potential. His experience as a professional player brought credibility, but it was his character that earned him the respect of players, parents, and colleagues alike.
For many families, Angelo became much more than a coach. He became a trusted mentor, an educator, and a role model. For fellow coaches, he was a valued colleague whose knowledge and experience elevated everyone around him. For the club, he became one of the pillars upon which FA Euro’s culture was built.
Many coaches leave behind teams. Angelo leaves behind a legacy.

His influence has helped shape not only better soccer players, but better people. The lessons he taught about discipline, perseverance, humility, teamwork, and respect will continue to live on through the thousands of players whose lives he touched over the last thirteen years.
As Angelo embarks on this next chapter, he leaves behind a legacy that will forever be woven into the fabric of FA Euro New York.
The players he coached, the families he inspired, and the community he helped build will carry his lessons forward for years to come.
On behalf of everyone at FA Euro New York, we extend our deepest gratitude.
Thank you for your leadership.
Thank you for your friendship.
Thank you for thirteen extraordinary years.
And most importantly, thank you for becoming part of our family.
We wish Angelo, his wife, and his entire family happiness, health, and success as they begin this exciting new chapter back home in Italy.
