OFFICIAL: FA Euro Academy announces the appointment of Edson Aguiar as the club's Technical Director. The Brazilian native will work in Sarasota, Florida alongside Academy CEO, Ferdinando de Matthaeis and will spearhead all club and team activities.
Aguiar has enjoyed an internationally illustrious career as both a player and coach. He is a home grown youth product of São Paulo FC where in 1981, he made his professional debut for the first team for the Tricolor. Playing at the highest level in his homeland, Edson has played for São Bento, Guarani FC, and Club Athletico Paranaense for an impressive span of 9 years. In 1989, Edson would venture to the Land of the Rising Sun where he would play for Nagoya Grampus in Japan.

His resume includes being the head coach of Clube Atlético Taquaritinga and Clube Atlético Linense. In 2002, Edson would return once again to Asia, coaching the Jeonnam Dragons in South Korea. After a three year tenure, Edson ventured to Qatar to coach Al Sadd SC & Al-Rayyan SC from 2005-2009. He would return to Brazil for a brief season, becoming the Technical Director for Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense. The world traveler would return again to Qatar, to become the Head Coach for Al-Arabi SC from 2015-2017. Coach Aguiar was the only Brazilian coach working in Qatar Stars League (QSL), the highest division of professional in Qatari football. He was nominated as QSL Coach of the Year in 2017, where his fellow class of nominees included former Real Madrid and Ajax striker Michael Laudrop and former Málaga CF and FC Porto Head Jesualdo Ferreira.
