WHIPPANY, NJ- What could go wrong, went completely wrong for the PDL club on Wednesday night as Euro (3-9-0) were pummeled 8-2 at the New York Red Bulls U23 (11-1-1) as they got their 11th win of the season on their home turf.
Top PDL Prospect and Flemington, NJ native, Brian White scored two on the Euro club, both in the first half, to score his 16th and 17th goals of his season. White, 20, currently is one of the starting midfielders for Duke University.
Not a good game from start to finish, as the Red Bulls began the scoring parade nice and early with two goals in the first 6 minutes of the game by Brian White and Jared Stroud. Then, eight minutes later in the 14' minute, Euro strikes with a rocket short-side from Zhurabek Khusanboev to score his 2nd goal of the season. At this time in the game, it seemed like, Euro could maybe start making a comeback with only a one goal deficit, but that did not happen as planned.
It simply did not happen that way.
Four goals within the next 30 minutes sealed the fate for the FA Euro club with goals from Jared Stroud (17'), Fabio DeSousa (22'), Daniel Bowkett (29'), and Brian White (41'). Red Bulls went into the locker room with 6-1 lead. LIU Post's Brian McPartland allowed 6 goals on 8 shots. It didn't get any better, as nine minutes into the second half, at the 54' minute, Red Bulls extended their lead with a hard shot by Mason Deeds past Northeastern keeper Matt Dabrowski. To finish off the clobbering, Jake Areman, who did not play in the previous two games vs. the FA Euro club on 6/3 and 6/11, scored a goal as well in the score-fest.
LIU Post's Morten Wenaas scored the teams second goal of the night in the 65' minute. But the damage was done, as Euro falls 8-2 vs. the New York Red Bulls as they got swept in their season series vs. the MLS farm team 3-0-0.
Next game for the FA Euro PDL club takes place on Saturday in Elizabeth, NJ vs. Jersey Express as Euro attempts to avoid a season sweep versus the new look Express squad. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for constant updates, and keep in contact with the club by using the hashtag #TheNextChapter
