PDL Squad Defeats Evergreen FC

And just like that, FA Euro New York takes down Evergreen FC, 2-0.

FA Euro began their 2017 campaign, traveling just outside the nation’s capital to take on Evergreen FC. A quick start by FA Euro had Evergreen FC on their heels for much of the first half. This was a positive sign for the FA Euro, whose squad is made up of mostly new players.

Evergreen FC keeper, Kent Legg, kept the games close early on, making multiple brilliant saves against the FA Euro squad. On an early opportunity for English forward Charlie Ledula, Legg made a sliding save, running across the box to stop the ball.

It wasn’t until the 31’ minute, when the early pressure by FA Euro translated into a lead. On a free kick by forward Alexis Santa, defender Johan Mauritzon found the ball at his feet before striking the ball into the back of the net.

The second half began just like the first, with early pressure from FA Euro New York. In the 50’ minute, Jason Lampkin extended the lead to 2-0 when he buried a shot off of a deflected save by Legg.

Lampkin’s eventful evening continued when he got tied up with Evergreen's Captain AJ “C” Sheta, resulting in a yellow card for the midfielder out of LIU Post. Sheta’s retaliation resulted in him being issued a red card.

Evergreen FC struggled to find momentum as FA Euro cruised to their first win of the season. A dominant performance by FA Euro wrote the start of the next chapter for the team. FA Euro New York continues their season next week, when they head to New Jersey to take on Jersey Express at 7:30 PM ET.
