PDL Set Spring Scrimmages

PDL Soccer season cannot come soon enough, as the FA Euro New York Football club takes on the St. Francis College Terriers and the Hofstra Pride in April.

Many of the teams front office is super eager to be playing these top teams such as Executive Director Marco Balsamo. "It's a great test for us to face NCAA college teams such as Hofstra and St. Francis, as it forces our players to compete against opponents who are already in their top peak form. It's a platform to see where our players are on a physical level as the speed of play at the collegiate level is incredibly high, if not the highest in the country. Playing against these two squads will be a great evaluation for us as a whole. Additionally, we are proud to work with these universities as we work hand in hand with the coaching staff on player recruitment."

Plenty of pro talent has come out of the PDL and the NCAA such as London native and Hofstra University alum Joe Holland, who was drafted by the MLS Houston Dynamo as a first round selection (10). Balsamo continued by mentioning top talent on the collegiate to PDL bridge, "The PDL is a great way for college players to stay match fit during the off-season as well as showcasing players for the next level, such as the USL or MLS.

The first game versus the St. Francis Terriers will be played at Calvert Vaux Park in Brooklyn, NY in an afternoon showdown vs. FA Euro on April 1st at 2:00pm. Two weeks later on April 13th, the PDL squad will be traveling to Long Island to take on Hofstra University under the lights at 7:00pm on the field of James M. Shuart Stadium.
