PDL's Next Test: New York Red Bulls

History and the New York Red Bulls do not go well in the same sentence when speaking in terms of FA Euro. The first team (2-7-0) welcomes in the New York Red Bulls U23 squad (6-2-0) to Aviator Sports and Events Center tomorrow night at 8:00pm.

Our biggest news break includes FA Euro CEO Ferdinando de Matthaeis stepping down from the PDL Head Coaching spot this morning. Club President Joe Balsamo will take over for the remainder of the 2018 season. de Matthaeis finished his lone PDL campaign with a single victory coming against Evergreen.

Friday night, the PDL first team saw the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of their losing ways, where they netted three goals against the Evergreen Hammers. Siena product Conor McGlynn scored his first goal in the 21' minute of play. Robi Sillah scored his second goal of the season in the 33' minute, which subsequently turned out to be the game winner. Sunatillo Khusanov scored the third goal of the match in the 64' minute of play.

In the previous two contests against the New York Red Bulls, FA Euro has been outscored 6-1, with both contests coming from their training facility in Whippany, NJ. Dating back to 2017, FA Euro is 0-5-0 vs. New York.

The first team has scored a combined three goals against the Red Bulls dating back to June 3rd, 2017 at Belson Stadium (St. John's University). In the 6/3 contest, Georgetown's Zach Knudson scored a natural hat-trick against the first team.

Robi Sillah has unresolved business with the Red Bulls of New York, as he was issued a red card in the May 15th match. Sillah was sent off due to "spitting". He was suspended for five games post game.

Red Bulls has had great luck against FA Euro this season on the penalty kicks. Bryan Saramago and Juan Sanchez scored against Oliver Foss Hansen in both contests. (2-2)

Defender Leo Folla believes that the team has different thoughts about this contest. "Yeah, the wins feel good obviously after coming off of very bad spell of losses, but the boys are feeling good. We're feeling confident and we know of our capabilities. We know our record doesn't reflect our ability, skill, and talent on our team. We know with more hard work and a little more composure in front of goal and focus defensively we can get the result against the bigger team."

Injury update includes the man who scored the third goal on Friday evening, Sunatillo Khusanov, who was removed from the game due to a lower-body injury, will be out against the New York Red Bulls. In two contests against New York, Khusanov registered no shots, and 65' minutes of play combined. The remainder of the roster has been either ruled out for the season, or deemed eligible to play or scratched from the lineup.

The game can be seen LIVE on the I-95 Sports and Entertainment Network on Monday night starting at 8:00pm. Eric Cordova and Ben Marcu will have the call. Follow us on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) for everything FA Euro, and our updates throughout the night, and the season.
