Metreveli Called Up For U17 Georgian National Team

OFFICIAL: FA Euro New York 2002-born player Nickala 'Niko' Metreveli has been selected for international duty, being the second club player in 2019 to do so (the first being 2002 teammate Henry Hysenagolli for Albania). Niko will go on to represent the Georgian National Team from July 18 - August 1st, 2020 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Metreveli is considered to be one of the stronger youth products at the club, with standout performances at the Viareggio Cup which has caught the attention of some high profile Italian clubs. He is currently playing for the Men's Team and will be a potential USL League Two candidate. The U17 Georgian national team side is coached by Gocha Tkebuchava, a former national team player.

"Nickala is a player with excellent potential." exclaims USL League Two Head Coach Joe Balsamo. "He has an eye for goal and is a natural born striker. He is one of the younger players on the men's team, but someone we count on. We are all proud of him and this is an opportunity of a lifetime that I'm confident he will grasp and make the most of."

"I'm honored to have caught the interest of my own country's national team. To have the chance to play for Georgia is a dream come true. All I can do now is train harder, and go out there and give it my all when the time comes." - Metreveli

The club would like to congratulate Nickala on the enormous accomplishment and wishes him the best of luck as he goes off on international duty with Georgia.
